Buncombe County -- Buncombe County Government Community News: June 2021:

Calling all youth and parents, Camp WILD is up and running again for 2021. It is a five-day long summer camp focused on having fun while learning in the wild outdoors. Camp WILD is a program from Buncombe County Soil and Water Conservation District that focuses on the exploration of local sites and attractions while youth attendees learn about how to conserve, protect, respect, and enjoy the wilderness.

This summer, it is for all middle school students (grades 6-8). Some of the activities and hands-on learning focus on topics like stream ecology, hydroponics, waste reduction, sustainability, soil health, falconry, and team building.

June 14 – Big Ivy Community CenterSnorkeling, stream health, and falconry
June 15 – Biltmore EstateSustainability, hydroponics, and farm tour
June 16 – Montreat Team Leadership CenterTeam building on a high ropes course
