As of Thursday, September 23, 2021, the CDC now recommends that people aged 65 years and older, residents in long-term care settings, and people aged 50–64 years with underlying medical conditions should receive a booster shot of Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 Vaccine at least 6 months after completing their Pfizer-BioNTech primary series.
Beginning Monday, September 27, 2021, Haywood County residents who were vaccinated with Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine more than 6 months ago and who qualify in accordance with the CDC guidance can schedule appointments for booster shots at the health department.

Other groups may receive a booster shot based on their individual risk and benefit. Read CDC’s media statement.

For those not yet vaccinated, Haywood Health and Human Service are also offering Pfizer, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. Flu shots are also available and highly recommended.

Primary doses of COVID-19 will still be available on a walk-in basis, but boosters will require an appointment.
