Asheville Police Search for Suspect in Stabbing Incident

Asheville -- Asheville Police Department January 19, 2022

Asheville police officers responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon at around 3:40 p.m. Tuesday on the corner of Merrimon Ave. and I-240. When they arrived on scene, they found one man lying on the sidewalk with an apparent stab wound to his leg; AFD and EMS provided treatment at the scene, and the victim refused transport to the hospital.

Police learned during the investigation that two men had argued about panhandling the suspect fled the scene after stabbing
the victim.

The only description of the suspect is he is a tall white male with long hair.
