Asheville Traffic Alert: I-240 Closed Due To Structual Damage Montford Ave Bridge

Asheville -- Friday, Jan28, 2022  The Asheville Fire Department and other local authorities are responding to a motor

vehicle accident in the area of Interstate 240, mile marker 4.7, on I 240 Westbound. I 240 Westbound is shut down as well as Montford Avenue bridge over I 240 due to structural damage. All traffic under or over the bridge has been stopped until the North Carolina Department of Transportation clears the bridge for operation.

I 240 Westbound traffic is being re-routed at exit 47 on the Montford Avenue on ramp and then back on to I 240. The area is anticipated to be closed for quite some time; please avoid the area if possible.
