Buncombe County -- March 2, 2022: Buncombe County Health Department press release Tuesday COVID-19 had good news. 

In the past week, we saw 155 new cases per 100,000 people; this is a decline of 237 new cases per 100,000 in the week prior. This is also reflected in our percent positivity rate, which has gone down from 12.2% to 8.6%.

Buncombe County is seeing lower numbers in deaths—five were reported to the dashboard this week, 

compared to 5.3 new deaths per 100,000 last week.

Hospitalizations are also continuing their downward trend with 5.0% of inpatient beds and 15.1% of ICU beds occupied by COVID-19 patients.

COVID-19 vaccinations are also on the rise here in Buncombe County; 69% of our total population has received at least one dose and 66% of our total population has received their full primary vaccination series!

A reminder from Buncombe County Health and Human Services:

COVID-19 vaccines are available at the Health Department Immunization Clinic at 40 Coxe Avenue. This clinic is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., and COVID-19 vaccines will be available on a walk-in basis. Visit www.myspotmyshot.nc.gov for additional vaccine providers near you.

Please stay home and away from others if you are symptomatic or have tested positive for COVID-19 to keep from spreading it to others. Testing is available in many locations. If you need to be tested for COVID-19, please visit www.findmytestingplace.nc.gov.
