Buncombe County -- May 5, 2022: The FBI and Buncombe County Sheriff's Office recovered 1.1 pounds of fentanyl, a weapon, and $1,136 in US currency from 258 Magnolia Way in Leicester after a months-long investigation based on community concerns.

The FBI executed a search warrant on April 29, 2022, at the residence early this morning, and two individuals surrendered without incident. The drugs were seized after BCAT agents with the Sheriff's Office searched the house. The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office has taken custody of Tyrius Eugene Smith and Denise Nicole Williams of Buncombe County.

Mr. Smith is being held on a $300,000 bond and is charged with:
- Fentanyl Trafficking
- Conspire to Traffic Fentanyl
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Substance
- Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Sale of Controlled Substance
Ms. Williams is being held on a $250,000 bond and is charged with:
- Fentanyl Trafficking
- Conspire to Traffic Fentanyl
- Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Substance
- Maintain Vehicle/Dwelling/Place for Sale of Controlled Substance
Mr. Smith was charged with conspiracy to commit murder last September by the Asheville Police Department and posted an $350,000 bond. He also has numerous felony drug trafficking charges from APD that were brought in 2021 as does Ms. Williams.
