How to resolve AdBlock issue? 
Asheville -- May 11, 2022: After receiving a 911 call from a resident requesting lifting assistance for his roommate, deputies responded to Southern Living for Seniors, an assisted living facility situated on Love Fox Road in Burnsville, on April 17th,
2022. The resident said that he was unable to locate any personnel to assist his roommate, who had fallen and been on the floor for 45 minutes.
When deputies arrived at the site, they were unable to locate any of the employees. After a thorough investigation of the facility, two employees, Brittany Michelle Crowder and James David Hudson, were discovered sleeping in an empty resident's room. Employees were found to be in possession of many residents' narcotic prescription medication.
Arrested were: Brittany Michelle Crowder, age 29 of Burnsville was arrested and charged with Larceny by Employee, Simple Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance, Simple Possession Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possession of Stolen Goods, Possession Drug Paraphernalia, Tattooing Regulated, and Failure to Appear on Misdemeanor.
James David Hudson, age 36 of Burnsville, was arrested and charged with Larceny by Employee, Possession of Stolen Goods, Simple Possession Schedule II Controlled Substance, Simple Possession Schedule IV Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
A subsequent report was made to DHHS and Yancey County DSS after the incident. DHHS launched an investigation into the management practices of the facility. The investigation led to the facility being shut down because it was non-compliant in many areas.
DHHS and DSS were able to relocate all of the current residents of Southern Living for Seniors to other area facilities.
