Raleigh -- May 23, 2022: Department of Justice U.S. Attorney Dean J. King Western District of North Carolina, 
announced  Thursday, Jordan Taylor Randall, 39, of Hendersonville, N.C., was sentenced to 20 years in prison for

manufacturing child pornography.  He was  also sentenced to register as a sex offender and serve the rest of his life under court supervision following his release. Randall was also ordered by Chief U.S. District Judge Martin Reidinger not to contact the victims of his crimes.

U.S. Attorney King is joined in delivering today's announcement by Ronnie Martinez, Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in North Carolina and South Carolina, and Chief Blair Myhand of the Hendersonville Police Department.

Randall pleaded guilty to producing child pornography on November 5, 2021. According to court documents and statements, Randall's creation of child pornography was discovered by law enforcement in August 2020 after family members reported it. Multiple electronic gadgets, including a cell phone, a laptop, cameras disguised as aerosol cans, and external electronic storage devices, were recovered from Randall's residence and storage unit by law authorities. Randall had secretly taken films of two prepubescent underage females as they were nude or partially undressed in the bathroom and shower on many occasions, according to forensic investigation of the devices. Randall also had over 200,000 child pornography photographs and films, some of which showed children as young as newborns being sexually abused.

Randall is currently in federal custody. He will be transferred to the custody of the Federal Bureau of Prisons upon designation of a federal facility.

In making today’s announcement, U.S. Attorney King thanked HSI and the Hendersonville Police Department for their investigation of the case.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexis Solheim, of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Asheville, prosecuted the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice, aimed at combating the growing online sexual exploitation of children. By combining resources, federal, state and local agencies are better able to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue those victims.
