Asheville Police Investigating Hit and Run Death

Asheville -- June 1, 2022: Officers from the Asheville Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit are investigating a fatality crash in southwest Asheville Tuesday night in which a pedestrian was hit by a car.

On Tuesday, May 31, around 10:36 p.m., Abelino Geovany Toc Hernandez (10/20/1984) was crossing the street near the 1100 block of NC 191 (Brevard Road) when he was struck by a 2001 Chevy Impala. Hernandez was taken to Mission Hospital, where he died as a result of his injuries incurred in the accident. The next of kin has been informed.
As officers worked the incident, Brevard Road was momentarily shut in both directions.
