Wnston-Salem -- August 23, 2022: A North Carolina woman is dead after her son set her on fire.
Winston-Salem Police were called to a home on Lyons St.

after receiving a 911 call that someone at the house had been set on fire.

Upon arrival, Joanna Parker, 72, was found in flames on the porch of the home. Officers were able to put out the fire.

Investigators said James Parker, 48, was upset with his mother, so he poured gasoline on her and set her on fire.

Joanna died at the hospital.

James was arrested and charged with murder. He is being held without bond and is expected in court today.
