The victim in this homicide has been identified as Christopher Woods.

Woods is a white male who was 43 years of age at the time of his death. Woods next of kin have been notified.

Newton, N.C. - On Sunday, 11/20/2022 at 10:04 p.m. deputies with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a shooting at 364 14th Ave SW Hickory, NC 28601. When deputies arrived they discovered an adult male deceased at that location. That person appeared to have suffered one or more gunshot wounds, which resulted in his death.
Information gathered at the scene of the shooting led deputies to identify Az Thor as a suspect in this incident. Deputies learned Thor fled on foot prior to their arrival.
Sheriff’s Deputies and Hickory Police Officers searched for Thor along Highway 70 near Brookford Blvd. A deputy located and apprehended Thor at an area car dealership. Hickory Police Officers assisted in that arrest.
Thor has been charged with one count of Murder and is being held with no bond. Thor has a first appearance in Catawba County District Court on 11/21/2022.
The Catawba County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division is furthering the investigation of this incident.
