Buncombe County -- January 8, 2023: As frigid weather hits Asheville and nearby areas
on Monday, Jan. 9, a Code Purple has been issued.

The homeless get emergency shelter during subzero conditions. Asheville and Buncombe County shelters will offer additional beds with less requirements during Code Purple.

ABCCM’s Veterans Restoration Quarters

1329 Tunnel Road -- Asheville, NC
Open for: Single men
Open 4-8 p.m.

Open for: Single women, women with children
Open 4-8 p.m.

ART bus route: W2

Transportation:

ABCCM will provide shuttle service with pickups at its Crisis Ministry, located at 24 Cumberland Avenue, at 4 p.m.
ART offers free transportation for those in need from 3:30pm-6pm on days when Code Purple has been activated.
 
If there are medical emergencies among individuals who are unhoused, Buncombe County Emergency Medical Services should be called at 828-318-4179.
